Week 1 Entrepreneurial Journal My Purpose
One of the things that stood out the most in this week's reading was Living Life as an Entrepreneurial Hero by Jeff Sandefer. One of the things that has always stopped me from wanting to pursue an office job is the fact that I want to make a difference in the world. At every job I've had I always feel like I can do more. This feeling has always pushed me to reach for the next promotion but no matter how many promotions I get it's never fulfilled me. Reading that as an entrepreneur I can actually choose to make a difference in the world and pursue my passion means everything to me. I love specifically how he talked about how being an entrepreneur is the more difficult choice but also the more rewarding one. Reading through this article made me realize I am allowed to dream big and I don't need to hold myself back based on what I think I should be doing. I really appreciate how the article talked about starting small. I'm a person who tends to try to push myself to do everything at once, and when I don't succeed the first time it's hard for me not to give up. This article has helped me realize that small things add up. Another thing that stood out was the fact that life is hard and tends not to be fair. So many motivational Speeches tend to ignore that fact. The biggest thing that stood out to me from all of the reading was that I need to give it my all. The speech from Gordon B Hinckley especially taught me this as he explained our potential as children of God. After really going through and absorbing all of the readings I realized I need to put my heartfelt all into making a difference in this world and not just settling with what others think I should do.
